Reference: | 2006 Railay |
Railay is a fully kitted out 70’ traditional stern narrowboat built in 2006 by Norton Canes and fitted out by the original owner. She has been updated by her current owner over the past 3 years, and benefits from a recent blacking (June 2023) and the external paintwork is in excellent condition.
The cratch covered well deck is comfortable at 5’1” with a storage locker under the glazed cratch board.
Steps lead down, through glazed forward doors, into the 15’6” saloon. This is partitioned by a storage unit in the middle, to create an open storage area on one side and a more cosy sitting area on the other. There is a 2 seat sofabed, gateleg table, Morso Squirrel stove, and a range of storage units.
Next is the 9’1” galley with an Indesit washer/dryer, Indesit dishwasher, 24v Shoreline fridge with icebox, gas oven, grill & 4 burner gas hob, ceramic Belfast sink and oak worktops. Unusually there is an additional electric oven; ideal for entertaining lots of guests.
The 10’8” bedroom follows, with a 6’3” x 4’0” fixed double berth, with storage under. A large single wardrobe sits at the head end.
The 5’9” bathroom is slightly unusual too! Although technically ‘off-corridor’ the bulkheads fold out giving extra space to use the quadrant corner shower, ceramic counter top basin, and Thetford Portapotti loo.
An engine room is next (5’4”) housing the Lister HRW3 traditional engine. Side hatches either side (as well as in saloon and galley) bring in additional light and fresh air.
A stern cabin (9’6”) houses a Beta generator, shelves for storage, a small bench seat, and large desk with folding chair. This could easily be converted into a single bedroom if required. Steps lead out onto the 3’7” trad stern deck.
She is centrally heated by a Webasto diesel fired system connected to 4 radiators and a towel rail, and hot water is via the Webasto, engine or immersion.
She is set up with 24v power via 12v cells in series. Domestic supply is via 3x 110ah batteries, with a separate starter. 240v power is via the generator, landline or Mastervolt Dakar 3kw inverter. 555w of solar, a Victron Isolation Transformer, and Mastervolt battery charger are also installed.
Lighting on board is LED throughout.
She has been very well designed, and comes ready for liveaboard live.
